Wheel-lift towing uses a metal yoke that cradles two wheels (usually the front) while the other two roll on the road. It is fast and inexpensive but unsafe for any AWD or EV. Flatbed (Slide Car) costs roughly 20–40% more but is mandatory for Tesla, BYD, all BMW xDrive, all Mercedes 4MATIC, AMG, M-Sport, Porsche, Lamborghini and any car with active aero or low splitters.

A tow truck is a specialised vehicle that moves disabled, crashed or impounded cars. In Thailand the three common types are wheel-lift, flatbed (Slide Car) and integrated heavy wrecker.
EVs in Thailand (Tesla, BYD, MG, Ora, Neta) must be moved by flatbed (Slide Car) only. Wheel-lift towing damages the electric drive unit and voids the manufacturer warranty.
