Steps
Check for injuries — call 1669 if needed
1669 is the free national medical emergency line (English-capable in tourist areas). Do not move injured persons unless there is fire risk.
Do NOT move the vehicles
Thai insurance requires the vehicles to remain in position until the surveyor arrives, unless they block traffic dangerously. Switch on hazards and place triangle.
Call 1155 (Tourist Police, English)
1155 dispatches an English-speaking officer. Also call your insurer's hotline (printed on the blue policy card).
Photograph everything
Wide shots, close-ups of damage, license plates, road position, traffic signs, other driver's licence and registration.
Exchange contact and insurance details
Names, phone, insurer, policy number. Do NOT sign any handwritten admission of fault.
Wait for the insurance surveyor
Surveyors typically arrive within 30–60 minutes in cities, longer upcountry. They issue a coloured slip authorising repair.
Arrange flatbed if undrivable
Call +66 92 910 6168 or LINE @859zfnis for an English-speaking Slide Car to your preferred garage or dealer service centre.
FAQ
I am a tourist with a rental car — who pays?
Your rental agreement determines liability. Call the rental company immediately; most include CDW (collision damage waiver). The 1155 Tourist Police report is essential for any claim.
Should I refuse a roadside cash settlement offered by the other driver?
Yes — almost always. Without a police report and insurer surveyor, you have no recourse if injuries appear later. Insist on the formal process.
