How to Jump-Start Your Car in Thailand

To jump-start in Thailand, connect red to dead-positive, red to good-positive, black to good-negative, black to a bare metal point on the dead car, start the good car, then the dead car. Call +66 92 910 6168 if no booster is available.

    Tools

    • Jumper cables OR portable jump-pack

    Supplies

    • Gloves
    • Safety glasses

    Steps

      1

Confirm a flat battery (not alternator)

Dashboard lights dim, no crank, dead clock — flat battery. If the car was driven recently and died, suspect the alternator and call a flatbed.

      2

Connect red (+) to dead car positive

Identify the positive terminal (red cap or '+' sign) on the dead battery.

      3

Connect red (+) to good car positive

Other end of the red cable on the good car's positive terminal.

      4

Connect black (–) to good car negative

Black to the good car's negative terminal.

      5

Connect black (–) to bare metal on dead car

Not the dead battery — clamp on a bare metal bolt on the engine block. This prevents a spark over hydrogen gas.

      6

Start good car, then dead car

Let the good car idle 2–3 minutes, then start the dead car. Once running, remove cables in reverse order.

    FAQ

    Can I jump-start an EV?

Only the 12V auxiliary battery — never the high-voltage pack. Procedure is the same as a petrol car for the 12V; the EV then 'boots' and the HV pack handles itself.

No jumper cables — what do I do in Thailand?

Call +66 92 910 6168 or LINE @859zfnis. A roadside unit with a lithium jump-pack arrives in 20–40 minutes in Bangkok and major tourist cities.
